Quick conversions

When US and European clocks are on standard time (roughly November to March), 12:00 noon Eastern Time is 9:00 AM Pacific, 11:00 AM Central, 5:00 PM in London, 10:30 PM in India and 2:00 AM the next day in Tokyo. EST to PST is always 3 hours earlier, and EST to CST 1 hour earlier, because those zones change for daylight saving on the same dates.

Conversions to India, China and Japan change by one hour during the year, because those countries do not use daylight saving time while the US and Europe do. In summer, noon in New York (EDT) is 9:30 PM in India.

Abbreviations can be ambiguous

"CST" means Central Standard Time in North America but China Standard Time in China, and "IST" can mean India, Irish or Israel Standard Time. That is why the converter uses place names such as America/Chicago or Asia/Kolkata, the identifiers of the IANA time zone database.

Scheduling a call across several cities? The meeting planner lines up everyone's hours side by side. Have a time in UTC, an ISO 8601 date or a Unix timestamp? The UTC to local time converter handles those directly. To see what time it is right now around the world, use the world clock.
