40.00 hours · 5 days workedHow the hours are counted
- Hours = clock out − clock in − break.
- An out time earlier than the in time counts as the next day (night shift).
- Overtime: US federal law (FLSA) requires at least 1.5× pay for hours over 40 in a workweek. Each week is counted on its own.
- Some states add daily overtime, for example California after 8 hours in a day. This calculator uses the weekly rule only.
Minutes to decimal hours
Payroll systems often want decimal hours: minutes ÷ 60.
| Minutes | Decimal | Minutes | Decimal |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0 | 0.00 | 30 | 0.50 |
| 5 | 0.08 | 35 | 0.58 |
| 10 | 0.17 | 40 | 0.67 |
| 15 | 0.25 | 45 | 0.75 |
| 20 | 0.33 | 50 | 0.83 |
| 25 | 0.42 | 55 | 0.92 |
